sure, I'll add you to my friends' list! Have great day, chloe!

I admit that I've always dreamed of becoming a writer. Not just a writer, but a writer whose writings would have purpose and profound meaning to readers. I still haven't done a good job of it, though. But, I'm trying to do something about this now. I've read somewhere that "writers are lonely souls", and maybe that explains why I seem to write best when I am hurting. Anyway, I stumbled upon this little online quiz and got curious about the type of writer I should be. Here's the result:
| You Should Be a Film Writer |
![]() You have a knack for details and dialogue. You can really make a character come to life. Chances are, you enjoy creating all types of stories. The joy is in the storytelling. And nothing would please you more than millions of people seeing your story on the big screen! |

MAMA, the Bride

The Last Time Mama and I Were Caught on Camera ( Yeah, this was how I looked like at 11 y.o.)
Today, the 21st of June, is my late Mom's birthday. She would have been 68. I have chosen to commemorate this day by putting all that I have left of her HERE -- old photos and a whole lot of memories.
Rather than posting the photos I took of her during the later stages of her illness and be reminded of her pain and suffering as she slowly wasted away on her wheelchair, I am instead putting a couple of old photos here to remember her beauty and smiles before the breath of life was taken away from her.
Happy Birthday, Mama....
I am supposed to be doing some technical writing for a brochure-type Smoke-free Guidelines project, but I have yet to get rid of this Writer's Block that has been bugging me for weeks now. I can't get anything done if this persists. I wonder if there's a pill that I can pop into my mouth to make this Writer's Block disappear and send my creative juices flowing. Focus, that's what I need. Not a pill.
Oh, well, no use fretting over it. So, I thought I'd make use of this 'block" by signing up with Technorati instead and hope it'll do me wonders. At least, my blog, LOL. Now, where's that HTML code I'm still struggling with? LOL. Ah...here it is.
I don't seem to have anything worthwhile to write today, but I'd like to take this chance to express my THANKS to my friend, Marites, for the nice Pep Talk she gave me over the phone yesterday. I might write about so many things and talk about almost anything under the sun, but I guess, there are still some things about me that I'd like to remain private. Before I spill my heart out here, thanks for listening, Tes. I'll have you know that it helped a lot. I'm usually a good listener myself, and I even spend a lot of time listening to other people's troubles and pains to give them comfort when I can. But, I guess, even the Clown or the Iron Woman (as Jeff calls me) that I am has emotions, too, just like everybody else.
I guess, THIS Secret Sufferer has just shown you a side of her that others seldom see. Anyway, thank you, Marites. Just for listening.

I have to admit that I haven't been following Pro Tennis as much as I used to when my fave Steffi Graf and other great players like Pete Sampras, Monica Seles, Andre Agassi, Patrick Rafter, Michael Chang, Jennifer Capriati, and others. When Graf retired in 1999 and the others followed soon after, I felt that the sport of Tennis was no longer the same. Not with glamour and sex appeal being given more attention than on-court brilliance. It suddenly felt like they were using sex appeal to sell Tennis instead of promoting it for what it really is -- an exciting sport. Everything seemed to center on endorsements, endorsements, and making more money from them instead of coming up with more wins on the court. It kind of made me miss those times when the likes of Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert, Jimmy Connors, Bjorn Borg, Steffi Graf, and Pete Sampras cared more about doing so well on the court and in effect, making tennis highly interesting like Golf, the NFL, and the NBA. For these great Champions, what mattered was keeping a record of Grand Slam wins and not having the longest list of endorsements while only having a so-and-so skill on the court.
At first, I thought Ana Ivanovic was just another pretty face. Until I saw her in the Ladies Final yesterday. Until yesterday, I've never really seen Ivanovic play and when I finally watched her go up against another young, talented player Dinara Safina, I wondered for a moment if I was caught in a time warp or something. Watching Ana Ivanovic move all over the court was like watching the great Steffi Graf covering the court like a gazelle, playing tennis like a man but still looking every inch a graceful woman. Brunette, green-eyed, 6'1" Ana Ivanovic was all business on court, and didn't seem to be so conscious about looking great and appealing on court. Despite her model-good looks and endorsements, her focus on fitness drills to prepare for matches spoke of discipline and the desire to win. The only other player who trained more than any other did before was Steffi Graf who would train for 9 hours each day, and it sure paid off in the form of 22 Grand Slam titles. It's too early to tell if Ana Ivanovic (who's now on top of the world with the World Number 1 ranking tucked in her belt) will become as great as her predecessors. But, if she maintains the mental fortitude, discipline, and attitude she has, we might see her winning more Grand Slams and be at the top of the women's rankings for a long time.
Hadje! Ana Ivanovic mutters that word whenever she makes a wining shot. Hadje! is a Serbian word that means, "COME ON!" Well, you've certainly come a long way, Ana! Way to go!

URDUJA, presented by APT Entertainment and produced by Seventoon and Imaginary Friends, is the first MAJOR Filipino animated film (DAYO is the first ALL-DIGITAL full length film) about Princess Urduja, a lady warrior and heroine of Pangasinan, Philippines. When I saw the trailer, I was so amazed. If not for the Tagalog language/dialogue, one would instantly think URDUJA is a Disney film. Well, it's not really surprising for the animation in URDUJA to be SUPER because the film showcases the talent of world-class Filipino animators (there are many Filipino animators working for Disney and Warner Bros.) Giving voice to URDUJA is Asia's Songbird,Regine Velasquez while Cesar Montano lends his voice to LIM HANG. Other actors lending voices to characters are Eddie Garcia, Johnny Delgado, Jay Manalo, Michael V, Allan K, Epie Quizon, and Ruby Rodriguez. The Music and Lyrics are provided by Ogie Alcasid and Joey de Leon, respectively. This movie will do the Philippines a lot of good. Watch the trailer and see what I mean:
